About us

Who we are

Civil Society NET is a collaborative venture by the Aga Khan Foundation, La Caixa Foundation and TechSoup which builds on several decades of diverse experience and years of partnership.

It offers high-quality, low-cost, replicable and sustainable technology-based solutions aimed at empowering disadvantaged and marginalised communities to contribute meaningfully to the improvement of their quality of life. By utilising technology and an extended network of local partners, Civil Society NET offers solutions that reach a broad and diverse demographic of learners and implementers who stay connected far beyond the life-cycle a traditional project.

Our aim is to ensure solutions are locally owned, relevant to the local context, and reach a broad range of civil society institutions and organisations, as we believe that an effective civil society, equipped with the best knowledge and tools, holds to key to unlocking an improvement in quality of life.

Our approach

Simple. Our content and tools are suited to different levels so that everyone can benefit – old and young, urban and rural. Our tools are user friendly and intuitive.

Blended. Our mix of high-quality videos and in-person discussion and follow-up allow for students to learn at their own pace and encourage maximum learning outcomes.

Sustainable. Our low-cost model replaces traditional short-term, high-cost workshop-based capacity building measures with local communities, and allows for a high degree of replicability.

Contextual. Our solutions can be customised to serve a wide variety of cultural and linguistic contexts. For example, our courses can be delivered in a variety of local languages.

Relevant. Our context-specific tools empower communities to take control of their development. Leaders are given the capability to tackle everyday issues and raise resources.
